About this deal

Bush weaves intricate tapestries of sound and imagery with songs that span the range of all emotion, from the most intimate to the most frightening.

There is way too much sibilance on this release - and that really isn’t acceptable, given there are adequate methods to minimise inherent faults in the original master. Hello my copy seems to have a press release large gatefold sleeve with a picture of the front cover of hounds of love with the text The Album hounds of love with a purple ribbon and a double sided purple A4 sheets. The boxes are also accompanied on Kate’s updated site with an unboxing video which features a voiceover by Sir Ian McKellan! Fortunately, Bush was afforded creative control over her immensely more abstract than necessary promo clips, which invariably accorded with, added new meaning to and translated her lyrics, inevitably showcasing her symbolised sensuality and sense of wonder in an overtly stylish and romantic manner. It is a perfectly good remix for the radio/single, but loses some of the impact of the original album version.

The Baskerville Edition of Hounds of Love is intended to be the first in a series of illustrated editions of Kate’s albums. Fish People are also reissuing the regular vinyl and CD versions of Hounds of Love and believe it or not (Stranger Things fans, ahoy!

Review: Kate Bush is right back into the popular consciousness of even younger music lovers these days thanks to one of her most iconic tracks was included in some of the key scenes in Stranger Things. There’s a special emotional connection that happens between the possessor of an album, the music and the artwork, when it exists in the real world.

The album includes the lead single and number on hit ‘Running up that Hill’, and also other hit singles such as ‘Cloudbusting’ and ‘Hounds of Love’.The title has received universal acclaim and has been enshrined into pop-culture history Q magazine readers voted Hounds of Love the 48th greatest album of all time, while two years later the same magazine placed it at number 20 in its list of the "100 Greatest British Albums Ever". I wouldn't say 'Wuthering Heights' is because Running always charts, more radio-friendly, and so on! In 1985, when MTV was reaching the peak of its viewership and veteran British acts were suddenly experiencing more pressure to adapt and take new directions, she finally broke the notoriously imperious American market.
