About this deal

In this way, this book is based on my own experiences as a hedge witch living in Ireland and following a Celtic path.

This is a fascinating book written in a chatty informal style as letters to two friends who are interested in witchcraft. But, this book does do a great job of covering the basics of Wiccan beliefs and practices and if that’s what you are looking for, this could be a good place to start. You feel nature seeping into your heart, wide open to absorb each line fully, with delight and often with awe. I found this book very useful, and I learned more about the practical ways I can practice my religion on my own.Concerns about our world and environment have never been stronger, and through a mixture of spirit travelling, spells, wands, broomsticks and familiars, the author shows us how we can not only heal the human relationship with the rest of nature, but also to help bring evolution to the human concepts of nature.

Joanna provides a comprehensive, up to date and personal account of her hedge witch path and practices. Think ‘wise-woman’ and natural healer rather than spells and incantations and you will be close to the content of this book. This book is a stunning compilation of knowledge and a great introduction to the holidays you can celebrate to honor the god and goddess or, in my case, the earth and nature.Unfortunately, I did not feel this book was as good as The Book of Hedge Druidry, but it did offer some valuable insight into hedgecraft if you are new to it. Hedge Witch: A Guide to Solitary Witchcraft by Rae Beth (***)- I was really hoping to like this book more than I did. If you are looking for an intermediate guide to Wicca and some lovely Sabbat rituals this is the book for you. This is a great introduction to Wicca, but also a great introduction to how to set up a ritual, how to perform spell work, and how to track your growth through the use of a Book of Shadows. I do question a great deal of the history and mythology, as she's given no references for it other than scattered bits of Gardnerian and Alexandrian lore.
